Artist’s Statement
Wax on wire armature figures less than 2” high and painted red, blue, and yellow dwell amidst cast plaster architectural elements, sphagnum moss, paper mâché, wood, and acrylic paint in my diorama-format sculptures. By mixing themes of body and landscape, work and play, art and life, and more, I try to conjure a feminist vision of the human community. By #FeministArt, I simply refer to envisioning connection to our bodies, each other, and the world we live in, and cultivating the lives of all sentient beings so that these connections can flourish. Since these connections are not currently cultivated for everyone, many sentient beings are enslaved, and we live in Patriarchy, empowering women now would most likely advance freedom.
