Artist’s Statement

The “Fragment” Revisited: A Meditation

For the past few years, I have been collaging Image fragments onto my acrylic paintings, approaching many subjects, and meditating on the meaning of the image voice behind it.

I found this meaning in my own lifetime dimension, defying the laws of space and time, blending Past, Present, and Future—that is, my past, my present—where I am now—and the future on which I project many possibilities by way of the imagination.

I recently started to think of the Fragment as a LINK to something bigger, not only from the outside but from the inside, a presence, something living, moving like energy. Finally, I can grow and reconnect to the whole picture through my own lifetime.

The materiality of my paintings provides the means through which my ideas are embodied.

Note: The painting titled “Presence” was inspired by Mantegna’s Madonna with Sleeping Child, ca. 1465-1470.
