I am always looking for a dynamic tension, one that plays out in many guises despite a common thread. As an artist, I want to discover, to shake out the expressive possibilities of black and white, of color, of line and shapes against the constraint and flatness of paper and canvas. There is also a connection to my experience as a dancer in the physicality of drawing, a dialogue with space. The body and the line are grounded yet moving in the embrace and displacement of air. The drawing, like the body, becomes the means and the moment of expression – splicing together what has been seen and what has been felt. Eileen Mislove
